Homebuyers Program

We aspire to assist Steele Creek attendees in their pursuit of home ownership. Acquiring a home is a significant means of cultivating generational prosperity, ensuring increased security for your family's future. After completing this program with our partner at self-Help credit union the participants will be eligible to receive our matching funds for down payment assistance.

Please review the required criteria below. If you are eligible, we would love you to apply for the program.

Homebuyers Program Criteria

  1. Must be a member of Steele Creek Church or are currently participating or have previously currently participated in SCC temporary housing program.
  2. Must be 21 years or older.
  3. Participants must go through the interview process and qualify. Participants must have completed D1 or registered for D1 before receiving matching funds.
  4. Must have full-time employment at current job for minimum of 6 months.
  5. Must go through a housing program/coaching with Self-Help C.U., (certified by SCC) and complete the program, meeting financial requirements determined by Self-Help C.U., and other established goals.
  6. You must be willing to save money and share financial information.
  7. Must be a legal citizen of the USA.
  8. If you are married, please provide proper paperwork to verify. Unmarried couples will not be able to participate. Marriage defined by SCC as one man and one woman.
  9. A potential homebuyer’s total household income will not exceed $80,000 if single or $125,000 if married to receive MATCHING FUNDS from the SCC Homebuyers program.
  10. Matching funds from SCC Homebuyers Program can be provided on a $1.00 to $1.00 saved basis up to a maximum of $7,500.00. The gift can be applied as part of down payment associated with the home purchase; however, if the purchase should not close, then the gift will be returned to the church’s homebuyers program.
  11. Bankruptcy: minimum of two years since the bankruptcy, with two years of re-established credit and no late payments or default.
  12. If you currently own a home, you are not eligible for this program and you can’t make application for someone other than yourself.
