Story

This page cannot contain the magnitude of all God has done among us over the years, but as we remember all He has done with gratitude, here are some highlights.

1985
Pastor Kelvin and Amy Smith began ministering at Jackson Park Baptist Church and in its surrounding community. For 10 years, this congregation grew and served the community with zeal and fervor.

1995
Jackson Park Baptist Church merged with Steele Creek Community Church on Sandy Porter Road. The two churches became Steele Creek Church. God collected a beautifully diverse church body, from all walks of life, that would amount to about 900 in attendance.

1999
As SCC grew, a God appointed opportunity to purchase land on Arrowood Road developed and the church constructed the tent structures that are still standing today. Continued growth allowed for more major projects and opportunities through 2024.

2009
Pastor Kelvin had a deep conviction that impacts the very fabric of who we are as a Church and the vision with which we continue today. 

We want to see all people living a life that is On Target for God. Therefore, we make it our aim to be pleasing to God (2 Corinthians 5:9-10), by implementing the 4 foundations highlighted in the book Living on Target that was written by our Lead Pastor, Kelvin Smith. This book encourages us to live in love and service in Christ, Home, Church and World. From those 4 foundations, we have developed a vision to Know Jesus, Grow in the Home, Be the Church, and Make Impact in the World around us.
